HD Ready Samsung

Samsung Logo

I’ve noticed recently that Samsung are really putting in a lot of effort into being one of the biggest players in HD Ready TVs. Plasma’s and LCDs! They have a whole range of feature-rich, pretty designed, cheap and just great TVs. Browse around HD Bliss and check them out. I will be updating the site with lots more HD Ready Samsung TVs in the very near future.

At the moment, they have lots of TVs that are HD Ready and here is the list:

LCDs

  • F71 Series
  • M73 Series
  • M91 Series
  • R87 Series
  • R74 Series
  • R73 Series
  • R72 Series
  • R71 Series
  • S73 Series
  • M53 Series

Plasma

  • P7 Series
  • Q7 Series
  • C7 Series
  • E7 Series

DLP (Digital Light Processing)

  • L6 Series
  • L7 Series

CRT

  • Z41 Series

As you can see, they’re really into it and from what I’ve read, the quality of most of their HD TVs is simply great.

Sky HD (Shy HD)

Sky HD Box

I’m not even in the UK at the moment, but I’m from there, and I got curious as to what exactly Sky are offering in terms of HD content, compared to all the lovely High Definition televisions that are available. After a couple of glasses of orange juice and a quarter tube of Pringles, I came to the conclusion that Sky HD should be renamed Shy HD. Why?

This is why! This is the huge selection (sarcasm) of channels available on their HD service:

  • Sky Sports HD
  • Sky Movies HD
  • Sky One HD
  • Sky Arts HD
  • National Geographic HD
  • Discovery HD
  • Sky Box Office HD
  • BBC HD
  • The History Channel HD

I know it takes companies a while to catch up with consumer demand, but I don’t see why people would spend extra money for such little benefit. At the moment, the people who watch a lot of sports and movies are the only people that will benefit. But what about my 75yr old Gran? I’m sure even she will get bored of the Discovery Channel and The History Channel sooner or later! Right?

But one thing I do like about their box, is the ability to record in HD and watch everything again, and again, and again. But, with so little choice I don’t see this as a good thing once you get past the initial ‘Oh my god, I’ve got Sky HD‘ phase, which will no doubt last about 1 week.

HD DVD On XBox

HD DVD On Xbox

During the past month, I’ve had a few people email me, asking how to play HD DVD content on the Xbox. Now, to be honest, I haven’t played a console for a good few years, and I haven’t owned one for even longer so I didn’t know the answer at first. But, not being one to let my readers go without the information they require, I did a little research online and I was suprised to find there actually isn’t all that much. I mean, considering the popularity of High Definition content and the Xbox.

… and I found this lovely mother:
Xbox HD DVD Drive

Then I looked at the price, and it was $199, or about £100 for us Brits and I thought that was not good! So, I went to eBay and checked the prices there, but the prices seem to be around about the same region. You could save about £20 ($40~) by taking part in an auction, though.

Originaly, I assumed the Xbox 360 came with a HD DVD drive, but I guess I was wrong. So there you have it, that’s how you play HD DVD content on your Xbox, then hook it up to a Lovely HD LCD TV and you’re in HD Bliss!

Toshiba 32WLT68

Toshiba 32WLT68

Description
You know those weird and awkward moments when watching TV with the family? Those special triple XXX moments.

The whole family just sit in silence. No sound.

Well my friends, it doesn’t matter anymore! If you’re feeling uncomfortable, you can rest assured that awkward silences will be no more as you know they’ll be looking at this lovely TV instead. And so will you. This has received some great reviews since its release and I’m convinced it would be a great investment.

Saying that, like all LCD TVs, the Freeview quality can be a little dodgy, but the quality of the High Definition picture is unbeatable. The sound is suprisingly great, it comes with 3 HDMI ports (Future-proofed yo ass!), and there is only one real terrible thing about it. The remote.

Imagine the TV is something of one Universe, and imagine another universe where the laws of physics are totally different to our own. Well, that’s the difference between the TV and the remote. It looks different, feels weird and doesn’t seem to work with the TV in the way you’d expect it to.

But, I’m sure you’ll manage!

Toshiba 32C3030

Toshiba 32C3030

Description
Jazzy-beautiful colours, contrast difference of milk ‘n’ coffee, images sharper than a Samurai Sword and able to handle fast moving images like Michael Jordan on crack.

The Toshiba 32C3030 is just lovely and extremely popular at the moment. Although I’m concerned at some people sitting on the other side of the bench, giving it the thumbs down like there is no tomorrow. Confusion. It has a lovely native resolution of 1366×768, an Integrated Digital Tuner, 2xHDMI ports, 2 Scarts, Component Video and some bubbly-lovely system that Toshiba call “ActiveVision LCD Picture Processing“.

After it’s all said and done, it’s up to you. Do you own it? Then leave a comment and let others know what you think!

Panasonic TX32LMD70

Panasonic TX32LMD70

Description
They’ve done it again! Beautiful clear images, warm colours, great contrast and a lovely black frame. With a 16:9 aspect ratio,? 1366×768 native resolution, integrated digital tuner and a stunning 3000:1 contrast ratio!

I’ve tried using a CRT before with a laptop to watch DVD or YouTube on a TV and Its like a fish out of water. The curiosity value is high but the long term entertainment value sadly is not. In this aspect the TX-32LMD70 does not disappoin. Clear crisp images make this a natural fit with digital media , even low quality such as You Tube or Google Video.

The Panasonic TX32LMD70 is a lovely TV and a great size! Throw this on the wall or on top of a TV Unit and you’ll be in HDBliss in no time at all. This HD LCD TV is very popular, and a great bargain at the moment. It can be found for under 550 quid at a lot of online e-retailers (Amazon UK linkhere ). Just look around a little!
