I looked around for ages for an LCD TV before deciding on this one, which had received good reviews from various home cinema magazines. The picture is really good - sharp, great contrast. Our aerial is fairly dodgy and the IDTV works very well with the poor signal. As mentioned in other reviews, the sound isn’t great; it does sound a bit like it’s hidden inside a cardboard box, but I guess if it bothered you that much you could buy a home cinema system with the cash you saved on the TV.
The best thing about it, though, is the performance with games consoles. The thing that really pushed me to get a new TV was the Wii. I ordered it from Amazon with guaranteed next day delivery in time for friends from work coming round to play on the Wii. I wasn’t disappointed. Despite not being a proper HD source, using official component cable, the Wii picture is exceptional. Even the sound is great, especially the cheesy Wii Sports tunes. Have also tried it with an X-box - the picture is really sharp and in games like Half-Life 2, the surround sound means you can hear when people are shooting from behind you and stuff. No idea why the sound is so good from console sources, but mediocre from TV.
All in all, this is an excellent TV. I should really have felt quite bad about spending so much on a non-essential item, but the gaming performance, in particular, means that I would have no qualms at all about recommending it as a great value LCD screen.
Looks fantastic. Picture is not bad at all. Looks great if you’re a few metres away infact. Up close its poor though. As everyone says it takes a bit of getting used to after CRTs. Also CRTs are a bit more forgiving with poorer aerial signal than this. Sound is quite thin but overall at this price its hard to complain too much.
Another great TV from Samsung, the difference from our previous CRT tv is just astounding, the picture is perfect and even looks amazing with standard freeview tv, let alone hi def! The colours are just fantastic, the tv itself is a stunning peice of kit. Sound is fine for what i use it for. Some people complain about the slow channel change.
That is easily solved by turning the 2 digit channel number selection off, when using the Pr buttons it is the same as any other TV in that respect and not slow at all. The integrated TV guide is well laid out and all set up menus are simple and easy to use. Great looking product, great picture, easy set up, no problems!
Spent a long time researching LCD TVs. This was the best in my budget. Picture quality is great. Sound is good - not amazing but you can always connect speakers. Very easy to set up. No problems so far (4 months in).
The remote is a bit fiddly to use - too many buttons. Also I prefer the Digital TV menu system offered by my Sony freeview set top box compared to this tv - much quicker to use.
You can find this TV cheaper through other UK retailers to have a look around.
Overall: Great TV, no big faults at all.
We don’t like big TV’s and when we decided to use our existing Dell W2600 in another room with the Wii, this was after much research the prefect choice especially as far as contrast, colour and overall picture quality.
A bargain price too and delivered on time with the minimum fuss and drama.
A perfect buy.
Have to agree, lovely telly…
